A short visit to Amsterdam

AmsterdamA day in Amsterdam city could start at the Spui, situated half way through the Kalverstraat. You can either pick up the special bread rolls at “Broodje van Kootje” and relax while reading a newspaper from the Atheneaum magazine shop. If the wheater is not like you’ve expected to be, you can go to a coffee bar, for example the one located around the Spui.

After you had your breakfast, be prepared to do something serious.You can go to the Amsterdam Museum Square which is a luxuriant part of the city, forming a square surrounded by lots of museums.

Here are many different types of museums such as the Van Gogh where are being held the greatest works of the most renowned artists and works belonging to other various artists.

Close to the Van Gogh museum there is the Stedelijk Museum. It holds a modern art work collection. Then comes the Rijks Museum which is a bit larger and it takes you several mminutes to visit on the inside.

At lunch you may go to the old shopping building Metz in the Leidsestraat. Once you get there, take the elevator to the last floor and you will see the restaurant itself.

Then, you can get to the Albert Cuyp Market on foot. At first, you must walk through the Leidseplein, but be careful. If you walk along the Weteringsschans for more than 10 minutes you will definitely go to the Heinekenplein. Then turn to your right, go beyond the Heineken Museum, and then eventually you will arrive to the Albert Cuyp Market.

If you are interested to visit some pubs, they will close at 1 AM from Monday to Friday and during weekends until 3 AM. This thing doesn’t mean you must go at home then.

If you’rer hungry, the Febo on Leidsestraat is a sort of food that you may not resist for a long while, after you drink a few beers too.

Of course, the best place which deserves to be visited is “Bourbon Street”. This jazz club will offer you live music until 5 AM and will bring your short visit to Amsterdam to a beautiful end.
